Lost Ship

Lost Ship

The warm wind
blows gently
this night
as she wanders
down the dunes

Her gown flutters
like a sail, illuminated
by the harvest moon

Night after night,
you can see her
here, her ghostly
presence fills you
with a yearning

Many years have
passed, and still
she waits and
watches the
horizon, longing
for her love,
captain of her
lost ship, her
one

Recipe of Madness

Recipe of Madness

You emptied
my soul into
a cauldron of
sadness, when
you took "you"
away from me

Stirring the pot
like a witches brew,
you added the painful
ingredients:
loneliness
anger
bitterness
and
one broken heart

What a stew
of my life
you have made
and the saddest
thing of all,
I let you do the
"cooking"

Cali's Way

Cali's Way

Morning breaks
as I stretch like
a cat, sleepy-eyed
and yawning, but
ever alive and
thankful for the
"cream of life" -
another day...

Finding Dreamland

Finding Dreamland
Sleep is like
a distant
ship that
I can see
far out on
horizon

As I drift,
the memories
wash me
further and
further from shore

Circling over my head
like gulls, are thoughts
of bygone days, not
sad or angry thoughts,
rather images of my
children scampering
through their busy little lives, innocence
emulating from them
like fireflies in the
night and with the
bobbing of my head,
sleep finds me at last
and I sail away to
dreamland on a raft
of memories, as I say:

"Goodnight, stars and
moon, kiss my children
for me, twinkling love
over them with your
hallow glow"

Total Recall

Total Recall
Total Recall
never quite
brings us to
the realm of
satisfaction
that we seek

Memories replayed
are fond and most
cherished, yet
we have a kind
of emptiness
where that
loved one
held a place
in our heart
of hearts

The secret to
that is in
being ever thankful
of what was
and recognizing how truly
lucky we are
to have had them
ib our lives
for a time

As the Children Play

As the Children Play

Dandelions and red clover
sprinkled in the meadow, fair

Babbling brook, cold and clear,
inches it's way, as a lonely Meadowlar's song
fills the air

Children playing all around,
their laughter such a joyful sound

Fond memories were made today
as we watched the children play

Soul Soaring

Soul Soaring

Soul Soaring can at times
take you where
no man needs to tread

Into the eyes
of the ones who
care not if you're
living or dead

I saw a man
who kills for joy,
his evil made me sick

In my imagination,
I can describe his very being,
hands so big and thick

The relentless one
goes from town to town
on the quest to
track him down

Great Spirit, have
mercy on those
he takes without
making a sound

Sleep

Sleep
Take me to the edge
and set me adrift
on the calming waters of
dreamland's lulling sea

Where I'll rock in
the gentle cradle
of slumber's motion,
swayed by my mother's hand

Let me sleep that peaceful,
childlike rest once more,
known only to the innocents

Sing me to snoozing bliss
with your nature's lullaby
til my eyes are heavy
from the sandman's fairy
sprinkles

And as the moon shines it's light
and the stars faintly twinkle
in the night's sky,
shut down my thoughts,
whirling round in my head
as I toss and turn in my
lonely bed

Rest me, Great Spirit
as only you can, for
I come to you once more
with an outstretched hand

Rock me gentle on your
shoulder as you whisper rain
and I close my eyes to rest
this night, blessed once again

For Love's Sake

For Love's Sake

He worked magic
with his fingers,
a site to behold,
whisper soft moments
reaching to my very soul

Carved out memories
one by one,
we used to sit in
contented silence
whilst we watched
the setting sun

His eyes still speak
of his need for me
but my bruised
heart won't surrender
this time so easily

Sure must be our path
and mutual our goal,
otherwise it isn't love,
simply playing a role

And this time I won't
bend or break, but
I will give my all,
for love's sake

Second chances
are rare but real
so let your walls
down and begin
to feel

The Man Child

The Man Child

I saw a man child
while standing in
line at the store today

Some people looked annoyed
or even the other way,
uncomfortable at everything
he would try to say

When I looked into his eyes,
I saw innocence honest and pure
and now know that angels walk
the Earth, of that you can be sure

You only need to look and listen
to know what I say is true
for I saw it in the man child
today, tell me, would you?

My Wish

My Wish

I want to wash my hair
in the lake again
and feel your wet lips,
soft against my skin

I want you to rock me
as you hold me tight
and have Cheech
and Chong sleep
on me at night

I want to listen to music
on the dock with you
as you gaze out over
the water, the sky so
calm and blue

I want to feel the wind
on my face once more
as we ride off to "anywhere"
the way we did before

I want to watch the sun rise
with you on the dock
and sit there til the day
is through,
never looking at a clock

I want to watch the stars
with you, shooting across the sky
and never again have to wonder
if you don't care for me, or why

I want to wake up slowly
with your arm on me
while you snuggle a little
closer and say quietly:

Good morning, Bean Blossom
