Where are you?

Where are you?
I want to be kissed under the mistletoe
as your hands hold me tight

I want to share the holidays with you,
where are you, Mr. Right?

I guess only time can tell
if you will ever show

For now I'll just wait and see
whilst the cold winds blow

Tis the Season

Tis the Season

The presents were wrapped
the gifts laid out under the tree
but really what is Christmas
where is the sanity?

Some people tend to go way too far
spending what they don't have
- that's crazy bizarre

I've been guilty of that too
so I'm not slinging arrows
or saying "bad you"

The season, my friends,
I've finally learned
is about each other,
not gifts to be returned

It's the laugther of children,
carols to be sung
and lots of kisses
under the mistletoe hung

Capture the Sun

Capture the Sun
Photo property of Lynn West

New day, my way,
done with the grieving,
finished bereaving,
time for a new attitude

Better off alone,
raw emotions shown,
living for now in solitude

Go capture the sun,
you'll figure out
how it's done
and put those "poor me"
blues on the run

Don't settle, my friend
fight to win in the end
for without love,
it's not worth the pursuit

Once Upon a Dream

Once Upon a Dream

Lover's Moon, Photo by Lynn West - all rights reserved

Once upon a dream,
I knew your touch,
felt your fingers
in my hair

Once upon a dream,
I kissed your lips
and you held me
never let go tight

Once upon a dream,
you knelt beside me
and looked deep
into my eyes

Once upon a dream,
we lay under the stars
whispered words of love

Once upon a dream,
we danced all night
to music soft and low

Once upon a dream,
we talked til sunrise
and then made love
in the dew covered hills

Once upon a dream,
you were real, you
were here...

Where did you go?

Rainy Memories

Rainy Memories

I haven't forgotten our memories,
I've just tucked them away
I relive them now and again
usually on a cold, rainy day

I remember there were
good times, too and I try to
let them outshine the bad
but now and again all that does
is make me feel very sad

What a world we live in today
where dating is a "chore"
and what once was happily every after
doesn't live here anymore...

Sending My Love

Sending My Love

I send you bits of love
like pieces to a puzzle

Some drift along the ocean
and wash upon the shore

Others float upon the wind,
like a leaf carried
to the ground

They come to you
in drops of rain,
sometimes heavy,
sometimes light and
misty, whisper soft

I send my love in
rays of sunshine,
warm upon your back

When the winds
turn cold and bitter,
my love will wrap
you warm

And if the snow
falls all around,
each flake a different
size and shape,
know that too
is my love for you,
one drop at a time,
coming to you
from far away...

I miss you

Shadowed Dreams

Shadowed Dreams

His touch is moonlight,
softly shadowing me

His hands a gentle breeze
blowing across my soul,
bending me like the trees
swaying lightly beside the lake

His lips gliding over me,
as graceful as a swan in water
gentle, yet strong, questioning
yet taking, tasting the very
essence of my being

And when I awaken to a
lonely bed, I realize it may
have been just a dream
but in it, we were together
once more...

The Wood Carver

The Wood Carver

I met a man who carves
on wood, he works magic
with his hands

It's amazing how life's
path twists and turns,
even when you've made
other plans

Always wish on your
lucky star because you
just never know

What dreams may still
come true, if you tend
the seeds ye sow

So time will tell,
yes that's what
we say, as my
interest grows

Will the carver
find a place
in my heart?

Let's see how the story goes...

Shut Down

Shut Down

He left without taking
a single step - he just
closed his "door" and
completely shut out
the world, leaving me
behind in wonder of
what I thought was so
much more

All the smiles are fading away
as reality sets in
and his closed door
is a constant reminder
that he won't let
"anyone" in....

My heart is sad
for his woe
but until his "lonely" stops,
forward we will never go
stuck in time like an unwound clock...

I miss you, Woodchopper

Gentle Warrior

Gentle Warrior

My gentle warrior
so strong and brave
your heart was made of steel
I tried, yet could not reach you
it was an endless climb, all uphill

Sometimes I look back
and remember your face,
your gentle touch,
your warm embrace
and my heart breaks
all over again
because I know
what could have been

Your walls so thick,
I could never break through
no matter how much I tried,
I could not reach your rebel heart
or grasp how you felt deep inside

Maybe it was karma, kismet or fate
that decided this was not right,
whatever the reason I know not,
but alas, I gave up the fight

Family

Family

Family roots run deep,
children become their
elders as time marches
on, knowing full well
that when one generation
is gone, another generation
is there to take it's place,
to carry on traditions, to
fulfill hopes and dreams

And in generation after
generation, smiles are
repeated as she looks
like her grandmother
or he reminds everyone
of his favorite uncle,
the way he smiles
or the way she holds her
hands

Without realization of it,
perhaps, you have become
them, the elders,
in certain ways
and your children
will one day be
the ones carrying
on the family traditions

May it always be
that our family
circle grows
with love mountains
high and patience
in abundance, with
joy a sea full and
happiness as big
as the night sky

I love you, my family
past, present
and future
for generations,
forevermore

Witch, Hazel

Witch, Hazel

Her hair flows like midnight
her eyes glow like the sun
and once she's placed her gaze
on you, you just might come undone

When she starts to work her
magick and she begins her chants
you will believe in all she says,
be it future, past or romance

But if you unkindly cross her
or fail to follow "harm none"
she may just shrink you down to size
and show you how harm's really done

She would never hurt you,
oh no, that's not her stride
she'll simply lift the mirror's veil
to show you the "you" inside

What We Learn is Who We Are

Photo by Lynn West, Editing via Picmonkey.com
What We Learn
is Who We Are

Dusty old room,
memories written
on each and every
corner, like tiny
videos of life, captured
moment by moment

Take the time to stop,
stop and smile, remember,
listen and learn, for this
is living, because
our memories help
shape us into
who we are in the present
and if we truly learn
from those experiences
(good or bad), they will
help shape us into the
lightest soul within our
capability

I'm not telling you
to live in the past
OH NO - just visit
it through memories'
door, from time to
time...

The fast lane is for
those who really
are afraid to live...

Slow down, inhale
your days, exhale
your memories
and grow, shine,
love, mostly, dear ones,
love, for that is what
we were made for

Wisdom on Wings

Wisdom on Wings

Gentle spirit,
wings of light,
guide me on
this starry night

Open up my
eyes to see
past the veil
of mystery

Teach me with
your wise old eyes
to soar the mind
past hate and lies

Guide me to show
others this, so they too
will know self bliss

And when the world
can understand,
your touch will
have reached
all man

Easy Sunday

Easy Sunday

In the distance,
I hear music
coming from
the church
down the lane,
voices rising
in unison,
singing praises
to the One

The sun feels warm
on my back this cool
September morning

Wind chimes tinkle,
ever so lightly,
as the breeze
makes its way
through the trees

A lone butterfly
is making its way
around the garden,
testing the nectar
from one flower,
then another

Birds are stopping by
to have a seed or two,
while hummingbirds
buzz by, aggressive
with each other
in their quest for nectar

I smile at the nature
all around me and realize
this is truly harmony,
and I'm thankful
for yet another day
to behold the glory
of simple, simple pleasures

Darkness to Prisms

Darkness to Prisms

When you see
the world through
a negative heart,
the light is shattered
like glass but when
you open your mind
to the beauty of others,
the knowing of good,
the pieces of glass
that remain glitter
as glorious as the
stars above and you see
what a true prism
the world really is

Breathe

Breathe

Her sleep comes in
snatches this day
as the past knocks
down her door

Declaring words of
tender love as he
shoves her once more

Coward of the purest sense
a man who would raise a hand

She fights a battle
too many women know,
but dares to take her stand

For in and out
she breathes
new energy,
hope and knowing

Her true love
for the worthy one
each day
continues growing

Knowledge is
her weapon,
faith is her key
hope is her alibi
and Sun shines
down on thee

This strong woman,
surrounded
by light
will make it through --
just breathe tonight...

Forbidden

Forbidden

I am your forbidden fruit,
the one who stirs your loins

I am your passionflower,
the one who moans for you

I am your lover's kiss
when thirst, it must
be quenched

You are my warrior strong,
when others would fall

You are my smiling eyes,
I can see behind your pain

You are my friend for life,
touched lips that breathe
once more

Wishes Untold

Wishes Untold

I envision how
I want him to treat me

But truth be told, he
must be he and
I feel his "he" may
not include me...

His voice so soft,
his touch so gentle
I don't know how to feel

For his kisses are elusive
the thought of his love, surreal

Do I fit into his plan or
am I just his settle
for when I ask him questions
of soul, I feel he thinks I
meddle...

I rarely feel this kind of
doubt, it's a foreign thing
to me

I wish the best for him in
life, this rebel, wild and free

As he rides the road of
life, I wish for him no pain
or strife

And if I am not to be his bliss
may he at least find happiness

The Fairy Tale

The Fairy Tale

Misty recollections
of an autumn long
since passed, when
September meant
you were coming

Where leaves changing
made me smile with
renewed hope

Now, like the rustling
of leaves, your voice
swirls through my
memory, fading in the sun

And yet another
September, another
year, another lifetime
has come and gone
and still, you aren't here

Your absence is
like a mountain,
yet your presence
is still felt, for I know
once upon a time,
in a kingdom far
away, lived a princess
and her prince...

Cali

Cali

She sits as regal
as a queen
as she bathes
herself today

Then slides up
by my side
to purr and
get her way

I reach down
to scratch her ears
and she nuzzles
right on in

My Cali,
Queen of Cats,
reigns her kingdom
once again

A Day by the Sea

A Day by the Sea

Watery sunshine
spraying my face
as the ocean's mist
greets me

Seagulls circling for morning's
fare, a morsel or two from
from the sea

Sand lightly crunching
between my toes as I walk
barefoot, leaving my trail

Sea shells rolling in and
out of the surf and off
in the distance, a whale

The salty breeze blowing
my hair as I carelessly
stroll along

And as the sun sets, I
pack up to go home
with a smile and a
happy little song

The Wonder of Rain

The Wonder of Rain

Colors of wonder
rainbow's light
as the sun peaks
in after the glorious
rain

The earth smiles
her wise old smile
as the flowers
reach toward the
sun and the birds
find fresh drink
where once there was
none

All this joy from a simple
raincloud and some think
there is nothing in life to be
happy about...

How sad for them...

The Tree of We

The Tree of We

I don't want to be
a splinter, one who
gets under your
skin and irritates you,
but rather I wish to
be your tree

The one you want to
lean on when your
feeling tired or just
need a little support

The "place" you go to seek
shelter from life's storms

The "solid" in your life,
the one who will stand
beside you, yet be able
to sway in the breeze,
bending as we need to
when life's challenges
come our way

I want to be your roots,
anchored firm and strong,
our branches full of new
growth as time takes us
in new directions, one,
entwined

I want to be your tree,
'til all the sunsets have
passed, standing strong,
together, enjoying forevermore

Music of My Heart

Music of My Heart

Take your hands
and roam my body,
as we listen to the
soft slow melody of the rain

Kiss my lips and meld with me,
as our tongues mingle
together as one

Find your way
into my heart,
at home where
you belong

Reach my soul,
oh lover mine and
there will be no sleep
tonight, for the joining
will be our comfort,
rest and energy

The melody of lovers found
in rhythm as old as time,
moving with each other,
feeling one another
in shadowed symphony

Faith Is...

FAITH IS…

Faith is planted in
hopes and dreams
its written in the stars
and can be endless,
it seems

Faith is lived
each day by the one
who remembers what hope is
from dawn til' setting sun

Faith is reminding yourself
all the while
when you wan
t to sink down
stop, think and
then smile

Faith is what tests us
when the hard times fall
when you wonder how to get through it
keep the faith,
above all

Faith is the knowing
that comes from inside
when the climb seems
impossible, in faith,
I’ll abide

Finding Your Truth

Finding Your Truth

Knowledge is a wonderful thing,
yet the truth you tell yourself may
not always be the reality in others

What you know deep inside,
your level of integrity,
the way you respond to
your life choices, treating others
with kindness, those are the
important values you should
instill in yourself
(in my humble opinion)

When you listen to your heart,
sometimes it wants what it wants,
that is human being human,
I suppose

But when you trust your
inner voice, rely on it,
believe in your instincts,
then you will find your
own truth, for your soul
will never lead you astray...

Trusting Silence

Trusting Silence

Take me in the silence
of the night, when the
stars flame our passion
and the moon guides
our way

Touch me where no one
dares, to my very soul
and when I surrender
to thee, you will know
how love is supposed
to be, as we glide
through the heavens
toward ecstasy...

Come this very night
and have your way with
me, lend your ear to my
soft whispers of the
way our lives shall be

Trust in the destiny
that has been afforded us
and never again will
you feel alone....

Dawn's Early Light

Dawn's Early Light

Dawn came
sweet and slow,
rolling in smooth,
like the softness
of a woman's skin

Birds singing to the morn,
day's light breaking anew
just before the sun
began its burst of color
and spread it's fingers
of warmth toward the Earth

I lie in bed in total
acceptance of what
this day shall bring,
the gift of life, the
ability to be the best
me that I can be,
all over again

Believe in yourself
trust in your higher
power and know
that today is not
just another day...

Be the Path

Photo "Milford Track" used by permission courtesy of Agawatessengaw'is

Be the Path

In this path we walk,
sometimes we are side
by side and other times,
my friends, we are
thousands of miles
apart, yet still
you are by my side,
holding my heart
and bringing me joy

When you learn how
to open your heart
and leave the fear
of rejection behind

When you allow
acceptance to be
your creed, respect
of all beings,
great and small

When you acknowledge
that every person is
entitled to their own belief,
even if not your own

Then you become
attuned to the
meaning of being
the path

Aho

New Day

I'm grateful for this unfettered road
where a new me can emerge,
to walk my path without constraint
and release my inner child

Sanctimoniously receiving light
from deep within my soul,
I awaken on a new shore of
cream colored sand where
the waves are washing away
the past and the breeze
is blowing in a better now

And thankful does not even
begin to describe the feelings
of wonder and awe as the
sun rises in the east...

Walking Away

Walking away
took a lifetime
of courage, but step
by step she made
her way toward
what she knew
was inner peace

Away from the
ties that had bound
her soul for so many
years

Black gloved hands
held like a lady,
suitcase following,
like so many memories
that she held inside...

The good memories
of what once was
traveling with her
and the ones too
hurtful to bear,
left at the door
as she walked away,
forevermore...

Black Waters Dancing

Makobe water,
fluid as silk,
sacred as the land

Calming waves of golden
hair, dancing for as long
as the river doeth flow

Clear as the heaven's rain,
pure as drops of angel tears

To know this land and
witness such dance would be
an honor as cherished as if
being wrapped in the arms
of the Grandmother

May time and seasons,
ones young and old,
respect and honor the
beauty that was and is
and may so it be for
all generations

Storm of the Heart

Storm of the Heart

Can I weather this storm
eternally wishing for your touch?
Your love true but not to form
missing you, ever so much

Will I lose all hope as the days go by
even though the love is strong?
My eyes the tears still cry,
come to me, where you belong

Come for a day, no matter the cost,
for a love like ours must not be lost!
Restore my faith in a soulmate’s kiss,
memories forever will keep me in bliss

Months drift by, then years go too
and I wonder every day,
whatever happened to you,
why did you never come my way?

Walk This Way

Walk This Way

Step lightly
tread softly
my heart is
a tender one

Kiss eagerly
hold tightly
never let me go

Love deeply
live freely
soar with me
to a new
horizon
where surely
we will be...
together

The Arrow

The Arrow

Before I knew
what hit me,
Cupid's aim had
hit it's mark

Never before
had I felt this
way, "taken"
right from the start

There was no cure
to be found, no
fix or remedy

The only aid
for my malady
was thee and
only thee

Distant Dreams

Distant Dreams

You find your way
into my dreams
all too often

The thought of
your hand in
mine as our
lips meet sends
chills over me

The yearning
is as strong
as the day we
first spoke
and yet your
touch is still
a distant dream

Dixie Pixie

Dixie Pixie

Dixie Pixie, a darling sight
ever twirling around,
such a cute little sprite

She's a ray of sunshine,
the forest's own delight

Fluttering daintily
through the trees,
air dancing like a
butterfly to breeze

Adorable in
her little red dress
with flowers all around,
she sprinkles sunshine
way up in the air and
pixie dust all over
the ground

Be careful not to step
too hard when through
the forest you stroll
for she may be a
Dixie Pixie, but she
is friends with a troll...

Cuppa Joe

Java, Joe,
a cup of "start"
to begin your day

No matter what

is the way

It perks up the senses,
mmm, that aroma
really moves me

But drink too much and
jittery you will be, zipping
around like a bumble bee!

Storm Symphony

Storm Symphony

The sky is a flickering
wonder, the lightning,
pulsating, strike after strike

The thunder plays a
resonant beat as the
rain begins to tumble
down, falling in sheets

Hitting the tin roof, it
strikes up a tune, a
concert from nature
tonight

The frogs join in
with their deep baritones
as the night birds
sing to the storm

I lie here, safe and warm
and drift off, sailing
on a sea of dreams

Movement

Movement

Deep inside my soul,
our bodies pulsate as one

Climbing ecstasy
to the highest peak,
inner flames brighter
than the sun

Knowing the taste
of gourmet you
has only just begun

As the joining happens
found only by chance

Shaking to the rhythm
of our lover's dance,

In and out together,
is the true romance

Body moving,
adjusting just so
to find that
special "place"

How I enjoy watching
as the afterglow
comes across
your face

The Touch of You

The Touch of You

Music of my heart
beats soft and low
as I long for my
lover's touch

To feel my flesh grow
warm and warmer still
like embers glowing red

Whispers of ecstasy
flowing through my
mind, your touch
as light as a butterfly,
yet as powerful as a wolf

Come now sweet lover, mine
I can't wait another second

For soaring with you is
hawk in flesh as you
circle my soul and take
me to the skies

The Writer

The Writer

Creative juices flowing
writing “up a storm”
come, sit beside me
and keep me safe and warm

Another tale of love so true,
another dash of woe,
a question of the heroine,
will she stay or go?

It's my choice, my pen in hand
to let him live or die
it's my “ever after”
as the hours tick slowly by

I can “paint” a sunset
or write a stormy sea
all these things I can imagine…
even “you here with me”

Tea Party Princess

Tea Party Princess

Sweet baby girl,
she's a sight to behold
Throws her head back
and laughs all the way
to her soul

Innocence unbridled,
our next generation,
full of love, light and
God's vibration

Let a child be a child,
their imagination run
wild

Dress up and tea-parties,
dolls all in a row,
fancy hats and make
believe, a true princess
show

May we learn
from their teachings
and grow from within
as our inner child
shines once again

Angel Kisses

Angel Kisses

In a sea of quiet
she sings aloud
peeking out from
the clouds, showing
her halo like a golden orb

Her wings spread wide,
it's time for her to fly
and as the breeze brushes
your face, you feel the
kiss of an angel...

Weaving

Weaving

Closure, sweet closure
embracing change
with head held high
and heart wide open,,
open to receive all
things new while
allowing closure
to begin

It is never easy
to let go, even if
the tapestry that
is your life is in shreds,
held together
only by time, tears
and threads
of stubbornness

Choosing closure
is not about giving up
or giving in - it is not
a sign of weakness
but quite the opposite -
it is the ability
to allow yourself
to become the path
you walk and to be
the you who shines

The scars become
something
akin to "trophies"
on a dusty shelf
in your mind,
nothing but
reminders,
as you let the
closure happen
and the rebirth
begin

Weave your own
tapestry, live your life
knowing your
own true self,
weave thyself,
sister, be "yours"
first

And then you
will find how
much more
beautiful
and strong
life's tapestry
with others
can be

Namaste

LOL

LOL
lmao is just a phrase,
but what if it really "left"
I couldn't sit, or have
it pinched, I'd really
feel quite bereft...

lol is a better term
yes, that's the way to go,
but when I think about it
"lmao" would be quite a show...

Snowdrops Melting

Snowdrops Melting

Snowdrops on a winter's day,
my lover by my side

Healing hands that touch
my soul and fuel my
body's flame

Kisses melting inhibitions
as lips taste lips once more

Lover of my universe,
touch me yet again

Into the depths of warm
embrace, where passion
is the key

Night's Bliss

Night's Bliss

Stars surround me,
deep inside the Milky Way,
I twirl and dance,
to the beat of my
lover's heart

Moon's glow as bright
as the dawn, while our
naked bodies, attune
to the symphony of
the other's touch

Inside this realm of
twilight, desirous
souls come together,
flesh to flesh, lips to lips

Til' long into the
morning, when dew
has dropped her
glorious prisms
and we slumber

Garden of Delight

Garden of Delight

Would that I
could bottle
the feelings
I get from
being in nature

For there is no
greater elixir
in life, tis pure
inner peace and
I wish it for the
world

Innocent chatter
from birds busy
at nesting or soaring
above

Dancing butterflies
I am told are angels
in disguise

Scampering chipmunks
hurrying not to be seen
as earthworms do their
job while ladybugs light
on my shoulder

Wind blows lightly
through the trees
and I know my
garden is a sacred
haven for all who
enter here

Red Hawk

Red Hawk

Hallowed ground
trampled with no
remorse for unearthed
bones

Ancestor's dust returns
to the four winds and
the grandmother's
prophecy is fulfilled as
red hawk speaks
on a higher plane
than many can
ever comprehend

Painted ponies find
no graze when
humans stop
being human
and the world
forgets it's worth

Winged Symphony

Winged Symphony

Dancing to and fro,
air ballet in flight,
winged angels
visiting me, tis
such a wondrous
sight!

They stop for just
a grain or two
and then fly off again,
soaring through the
air without a care or whim

They sing for me a symphony
from way up in the sky
and as I toss a few more
seeds, I watch bird angels fly

Disheveled

Disheveled

I seem to have
disappeared,
drawn up the
moat of my
very existence

My mind turned
inward to live
with my thoughts,
which are twisting
like so many rooms
in a maze of an old
ancient castle

No reflection shows
back in my mind's
mirror, merely
the ghost of my being
gazing back at me

Pearl white dreams
cloud my brain
and I find it hard
to muddle through
the foggy mist

Reaching deep
into the stillness,
I know I must
find myself
again

Experience tells me
that the dark waters
are cold and lonely
and I push back
from the brink
into total sunlight

Ahhhh, when I
arrive from dream's
door, realization that
the dream was no
more than that, I
ponder it's meaning
and am ever thankful
for the circle of hope
that surrounds me,
the beings of light
who guide my path
and the knowledge
that when one stumbles
helping hands are
ever there, supporting,
lifting, loving, being,
in the light of soul sisters

Kismet

Kismet

Touch me in the darkness,
with fingers of pure flame

Kiss me with your tempting
lips, hot as molten lava

Feel my body open to
welcome your impasse

Move with me as a
ship to storm, wave upon
endless wave

Hold me close, no closer
still, make me part of you

Make love to me forever...
and then just one more day

Dream Carriage

Dream Carriage

And into the night I ride
in a carriage made of dreams

To the Castle of Merlin
in the Land of Nod
where I truly am his Queen

Down the tree lined lane
the castle comes into view
and my heart beats ever faster

I stop at the moat to look up
as the hawk soars above

White steeds draw my carriage,
all regal and proud, as I yearn to
reach the door

When the carriage stops,
the old door of the castle
swings wide and light glows
from inside

The light is that of pure love
unconditional, non-judgmental
radiant, calming, soothing light
and standing there with open arms
is my Magic Man, at long last, waiting
for his MoonAngel, his one

His arms enfold me, his embrace
pure gold, eyes like diamonds blue,
his lips are my rubies, his touch
my true life-force

And as he holds me tight, I know
our time has come, at last,
pure ecstasy will be mine and
the gods will surely tremble,
for now the dream carriage
has disappeared and I am forever
his in the land of you and me,
joining souls, for eternity

Simply Joys

The best things in life really are free… to name a few:

 good friends

 nothing is sweeter than a baby’s laughter

 a hug from granny

 a butterfly gracefully fluttering by

 catching a fish

 a cool breeze on a hot summer’s day

 watching a cat stretch after a long nap

 sunrise or sunset, especially on the beach or watching from a mountain bluff

 wildflowers

 prayers being sent up - or better yet - being answered

 the face of a child on Christmas morning

 leaves changing to those glorious fall colors

 memories
